Community Wildfire Protection Plans for the Five Counties of Region 9
These
Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) contain recommendations for making the
five counties of Region 9 (Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma
and San Juan Counties) a safer place to live by reducing catastrophic
wildfire risk. Many organizations and individuals have graciously
given of their time and ideas in the formation of these plans.
Their time and effort is greatly appreciated.
New Risk Zone Maps: Since the original fire plan maps were created in 2001, Montezuma, La Plata, Archuleta and San Juan Counties have developed detailed risk zone maps utilizing high resolution aerial photography and topographical analysis to identify areas of high risk. These maps were completed in the summer of 2006.
